Programme for 2011

Talks are generally held at the Wellow Village Hall starting at 7.30pm (unless stated otherwise)

Friday 25th February QUIZ NIGHT 7.30 for eyes down at 8pm “Animal Vegetable or Mineral” a light hearted quiz evening -suitable for all ages.

Thursday March 24th A Talk on Orchids by Writhlington School Famous throughout the gardening world for producing wonderful prize winning blooms, some of which have been exhibited at the Chelsea Flower Show.

Thursday April 14th A talk by Alan Ogg of Country Poultry All about Chickens and how to keep them –So many now have hens and some would like to know all about what to look for in the purchase of poultry and the challenge in looking after them - A one off opportunity to learn more.

Saturday 7th May 2-4pm at the Village Hall - Plant Sale A chance to buy a variety of plants at very reasonable prices. Cream teas will be served. Potato printing for the kids. Willow planter workshop.

Monday 6th June – a talk by Simon Woollen on “Fruit and Vegetables” Showing for competition, what the judges are looking for. You know you want to show your prize tomatoes or lovely apples at the Wellow flower show – then this is your chance to find out on what to do.

Sunday 19th June a visit to Jekka’s Herb garden on one of its open days- To Travel with your own Transport/orWellow community Bus Further details of the visit to this wonderful herb garden will be published later.

8th July Garden Party – 6.30pm venue to be finalised A Social occasion for everyone to enjoy

Saturday 3rd September THE 63rd WELLOW FLOWER SHOW A fun afternoon for all, a chance for anyone to enter into the spirit of the occasion. Bring your family and friends.

Thursday October 27th – Talk By Chris Smith of “Pennard Plants” on the “Victorian Garden”

Thursday 24th November - A.G.M. A chance for all members to air their views and to elect a new committee – Plus the added addition of good nibble’s and a glass of wine

Either 6th or 8th December – Christmas Decorations or Willow Weaving A Chance to make your Christmas more enjoyable
