The Wellow Oil Group

The Wellow Oil Group was set up in July 2008 just as oil reached nearly $150 a barrel. The ethos and purpose of the group is to provide the residents of Wellow and surrounding villages with a syndicate that enables it to bulk purchase domestic heating oil for its members. A further and equally valued ethos is to collate oil deliveries so that only full tankers visit the community thereby reducing traffic movements and the consequential environmental pollution.

The group goes out to tender and purchases oil once a month, generally saving its members between 2p and 9p per litre compared to individual purchases. Each member is responsible for payment to the current successful oil supplier and no money is handled by the co-ordinator.

If you are new to Wellow or the surrounding villages south of Bath (Twinhoe, Midford, Combe Hay, Claverton, Shoscombe, Foxcote, Withy Ditch, Dunkerton, Tunley, Camerton, Timsbury) you are welcome to join the group and become a member. There are currently (December 2021) 263 members in the group with an annual oil consumption of approximately 500,000 litres

To join, simply contact the group co-ordinator Richard Holland on 01225 833348 or e-mail and he will be pleased to discuss the details. Alternatively please complete the application form below and return as instructed. Details of how the scheme works are also available below.
